The Soul of a Mother
Deena Pierott, President - Mosaic Blueprint
There is no simple way to truly thank our mothers and all that they’ve done for us. I could never write my gratitude in just one article - it’s an ongoing dialogue. I’ll tell you a little about the woman who gave birth to this crazy visionary. Unlike me, my mother is quiet, introverted and shy. She’s happy with being home, reading the newspaper, watching her favorite TV shows, cooking dinner for us during the week and watching over her grandsons. Oh, don’t let me forget the occasional trips to Las Vegas to frequent her beloved casinos. But something odd started slowly happening over the last few months, the burnt pans, the repeated questions, the forgetting to take her medicine, the weakness in her legs, and then the look of confusion. I knew something was definitely happening, and it was. It’s that time in our lives that none of us want to face, the declining health of your mother.
I keep reflecting on something. I distinctly remember her telling me that how I never wanted to go to school in the first grade. I would say "I have to stay home to protect you", she would comment with a smile, "I think I’ll be fine, you can go to school". Did I know at that age that I would have the honor to protect her later in life? Probably. I'm even going to protect her this weekend for a Mother's Day drive to her beloved casino.
In closing, I know this will be a difficult Mother’s Day for some of my close friends and family. So for Kelli, Mitch, Vicki, Sharon, Bill, Donna, Maya, Drew and all others who’s mothers are not physically here with you, always remember the soul of our mothers are with us forever - may you find peace.
Happy Mother’s Day
